I have been tagged by Kate to share with you all ten random things about myself. Not as if I'm random enough already, I'm going to try and keep you all entertained for the next 5 minutes of your life. If you've read my profile (I don't know how you could miss it, it only takes up half my blog on the side) then you know quite a lot of pointless random things about myself. I'll try not to repeat things (I said try) and hopefully I wont put you too sleep. Kidding, I'm not that boring...
1. One of my goals, I guess you can, say is to go to Africa and ride an elephant.
Yes, it has to be in Africa. And no, don't picture me in one of those little basket things on its back, those are for ninnies, I mean like just sitting on an elephant like its a horse (awesome visual, i know). Elephants are my favorite animal, and I have absolutely no idea why. I remember when I was younger I had this huge stuffed elephant that was twice the size of me. Overtime it got so ratty that my mom threw it in a dumpster. It was so sad. But to tell you the truth I didn't really want it anymore now that it was in the trash.
2. I am the worst at remembering names. It doesn't matter if its a name of a person I met, a street name, a company, or a famous person (except, of course, if its a designer or artist), i am the worst. I just can never remember names but I can always remember random things about that person, or can picture what the street looks like. The only way I know how to get to somewhere is almost always from a photographic memory. I hate maps.
3. I'm not cut out for high school. Maybe because I'm too mature, or maybe because I know that art school is only two years away. Holy crap I cant wait to get out of high school. I mean I adore my friends but I can't stand when teachers say that were going to need to know [enter pointless subject here] in college. I mean maybe if your becoming a doctor, engineer or whatever, but when I know that I'm personally not going to be drilled on proper 5 paragraph essay with proper MLA citations (actually people are telling me that I will write papers, which is true, so at least I have a head start!) but other stuff, just gets me p.o.'d. I'll probably have a paintbrush in my hand more times then a pen.
4. I can't get over my pop punk phase. I went through a long phase where I would wear nothing but bright colored hoodies, black converse high tops, skinny jeans, and pop punk band tee's or a punk tank matched with a preppy long sleeve underneath. Now that I've moved into my grunge, vintage style, I have all these bright clothes left over, when all I want to wear is blacks and grays. I still love my chucks though, but I somehow have to manage the clothes I have now to work into my looks since I don't have the money to go out an buy a whole new wardrobe, but I'm getting there a little at a time.
5. I wish I was musically inclined. I have always loved music and when i was younger I played the violin, but gave it up because my grade school wasn't giving lessons to violinists anymore. But I always regretted it and I wanted to get back into playing and also learn how to play the piano and acoustic guitar. I have a really talented friend who writes her own music; a lot of it played on the piano. Its really inspiring to see that. I tried to convince my parents more than once to buy me an acoustic guitar, but they think I'll just give it up. So I'm saving for one, and I'm getting that electric piano from our upstairs attic and hiding it in my room!
6. I want to be a Graphic Designer. Hopefully during college, while majoring in Graphic Design, I can intern at a major magazine company like Nylon, Seventeen or Teen Vogue with the hopes of becoming an Art Director.
7. I'm a competitive swimmer. I have been swimming for fourteen years now (wow has it been that long?) and I'm pretty good...what. I am :) I went to the Junior Olympics three summers in a row and one summer I became part of a Zone Team where I competed in New York among the top 20 swimmers in the country. The movie "Pride," about a Philadelphia swim team, is based on a true story. I actually swam in a couple of meets with the swimmers that the movie is about and have met the coach. Even though I once aspired to go to the Olympics, I wouldn't call it my passion, but I still love it very much.
8. I hate tomatoes. I really like ketchup and tomato sauce though, so I don't know whats going on. I just hate them and I don't see myself liking them anytime soon. Shh...don't tell my Sicilian family.
9. I'm a technology geek. I'm really smart when it comes to figuring out computers and also random tech things like hooking up a converter box to the T.V. or just figuring out how to fix things when they go whack.
10. I still have metal braces. I've had braces since 6th grade and now that I'm almost out of high school I'm dying to get them off. My teeth are straight, I swear. I can't take it. They make me look 5 years younger and yes that would be great if I were saying that about something else and I were 40, but in this case, no! Who wants to look like they belong in Chuck E. Cheese? OK, its not that bad, but you get the idea.
There you have it, 10 things about myself. You can wake up now. Actually they weren't too random, but it took me a while to think of ten! Why ten? I should of made up my own rule and did 5. There's number 11, I think I'm so sovereign.
Much Love!
p.s: Sorry I haven't been posting/commenting as much lately, school has had me all tied up. But I think it also gives me time to come up with interesting topics to post about so I don't bore not only you, but myself! Mwah.

The Dead of Winter, And I'm Loving It
Those of you that have read some of my older posts know how much I love winter. I wont rant about it like I did in my winter coats post, but I just wanted you to know that its love : )
I love (using the word love just one more time) using this messenger bag in the winter because of the knit material. It just makes me want to make a sweater out of it or something. Some of you asked to see this bag when I talked about it in one of my posts. I bought it hand made by Mexicans at a flea market for $10 last summer before I went to school and its holding up very well! I thought the ribbon strap would have snapped by now from holding my massive texts books, but it hasn't. Maybe its because its sewn all the way around the bag, like on the bottom and up the sides. It's a trooper, that's for sure! One of the main things that makes it interesting is that it has two sides. The front (well, the side I like to use as the front, is a geometrical pattern) and the other side is, I'm guessing, is 3 men with large sombreros.
More trees. I love them. Hug. (kidding)
That's my computer there, where all the magic happens...hehe.
I know you all were so interested to see.
The gorgeous black and white framed photo is "Driftwood" by
Ansel Adams, he's one of my favorite photographers.
All of his photographs are in black and white and they are beautiful!
Please check them out if you have a moment!!
So thats a little bit of me! I hope some of you like winter as much as I. My whole family hates winter so I'm kinda on my own there. I really hope I get off from school because of the snow! I'll wear my pajamas inside out. I think that's how that goes. Oh....wait what is this?...Moms getting the chicken out out the freezer?! She always makes chicken soup on snow days. This is good.
*I've got me fingers crossed!*
xoxo

The beauty of a snowy night (im my own edgar allen poe)....
Although these pictures were taken last Wednesday and there is not a lot of snow on the ground now, we are supposed to get more later this week. I'm hoping for a snow day from school! There is nothing more beautiful to me then the way the snow falls and outlines the most thinnest of branches. And with living in the woods and all, its a beautiful sight. This is a picture of my front yard. Beyond the trees is a steep cliff where the mountain drops off.
Yeah it sounds as dangerous as it is!
It would not be a good idea to try and hike down that...Another picture of my front yard...

Lily Takes a Trip
I took another look at the stunning photograph from the July 2005 issue of Vogue UK posted by me on January 22nd. When I clicked on the picture it said at the top Lily Takes a Trip - Photos by Tim Walker. Knowing the genius that is Tim Walker, I was more than curious to see the rest of these pictures from this Vogue photo shoot.
I researched a little and found out that there was an amazing fashion spread called Lily Takes a Trip in 2005. The spread featured model Lily Cole taking a trip to India in all sorts of gorgeous dresses. The shots turned out so well that one of them even became the cover (below). I wanted everyone to enjoy in their beauty, so I decided to post the rest of Tim Walker's photographs from Lily Takes a Trip.
They are memorizing! I don't even know how you begin to even visualize something like this. Tim creates evocative images full of textured nuance and intriguing detail and his innovative photography is amongst the most imaginative and exuberant being produced today. Each picture is so unique, romantic and dramatic.
Tim Walker, you are insane...in the best way possible.
Comments? I love to hear from other brilliant minds. Much Love!

William Rast
Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear
On another note, William Rast, played by Justin Timberlake, and Erin Wasson are lovebirds on the run from the police in the fall winter 2008/09 advertising campaign for the denim line founded by Timberlake and Trace Ayala in 2006. The print and web shorts are entitled, My Name is William Rast, with Timberlake co-writing, co-directing and composing the score. To view the complete gallery and shorts click here. These are some pictures from the campaign...
Thank you all for your lovely thoughts! I am definitely feeling better.
You all are wonderful

Flannel shirts, studs, ripped jeans, and leather jackets are some of the unmistakable bellwethers of grunge fashion. In William Rast's 2009 Spring Ready-to-Wear collection, I could not help but be intrigued by these and other grunge elements such as the frayed boots, silver cowl neck scarves, studded and leather vests, menswear jackets, and extra large t-shirts. I love the crinkled leaves that cover the runway and the way a flapper dress is worn in the 11th picture. I think this collection is perfect for ready-to-wear and any of these looks can easily be converted from day to night.

Drowsy and Dramatic. The best i could come up with. Give me a break this time.
I feel like crap, again. I keep having these on and off colds where I need to have a tissue within two feet or I'm screwed (sorry, but its true) and a pencil case full of pills that I can pop in my mouth during class. The day I dropped that thing I turned around and there were white pills scattered around the hallway, (oops). Anyway I'm babbling and if you're reading this (sorry, again) you are probably anticipating me to go crazy over this picture below. Which, don't get me wrong, I would do any other day. I would have exclamation points coming out the wazoo, but I don't want to lie bubbliness (not a word) unless I'm jumping out of my chair, which I would, any other day. And now I'm babbling again, I'm sorry. My head is spinning and I swear I'm going crazy because I keep hearing a cat meowing. I don't even have a cat. Well I did. It ran away Christmas Eve night though. It was a devil. His name was Tiger. TMI. Anyway!...the photograph. I bet alot of you have seen it before. Scince its from the July 2005 issue of Vogue UK. I don't care, I love it anyway. So now I'm going to shut up and crawl into my bed with my Nylon I got in the mail today : )
Much Love.

5th and 5th
I got tagged by kait.lyn for this 4th and 4th thingy. I'm having fun with this so I decided to post another photo. I decided to try the 5th picture from my 5th folder. This mound of ice cream you see before you was my 17th birthday cake my mom made me! Its a mixture of ice cream (i dont know what kind, sorry) carmel, oreos, cool whip, chocolate chips, sprinkles and other things with an illegal calorie count. Ahh this makes me hungry for sweets. I should have picked 3rd from 3rd or something because I dont know if I can have this thing staring me down every time I go into my blog! It was a great birthday xD

4th and 4th
I got tagged today by emmawhoisee to get the 4th photo from my 4th folder. This is a picture of RBD, a former pop group in Mexico. They were my sisters favorite group! Me and her would run around the house singing in spanish! The group got seperated this summer unfortunaley. The girls in the group: Dulce Maria (red hair; i wish i had her hair!) AnahÃ, pronounced an..i..ee, (blonde in the front) and Maite (brown hair on the right) always knew how to dress provocatively. And Christian (the boy in the middle with blonde hair) always would dye his hair extreme colors like bright blue, pink and orange! Good Times : )
I'm Tagging:
Lizbeth from Honeydipped
Molly from Fashion Flush
Katie from Zombie Lace
If you've done this already go for the 5th and 5th!
Feel free to comment on the Obama's post also! That's the one below.

Lets Talk Politics
After watching the Inauguration yesterday, I couldn't help myself but post about how lovely Michelle, Malia, Sasha, (and Barack!) looked.
During the Inauguration, Michelle was wearing a matching yellow lacy brocade and coat suit dress by Cuban-American Isabel Toledo. Usually choosing designers such as Anne Klein and dresses from White House/Black Market, the first lady took a different approach to her choice of designer. Toledo is a common name in the fashion world, but not a household name by any means. Although, as of yesterday, just became one!
Some fasionista's, not including myself, don't necessarily think that Michelle's choice of outfit was best suited for the time of the event. There is some general agreement that the color was appropriate, seeing that it was bright and sunny and a symbol of hope, but it was the rhinestones that threw some people. It made the look more 5:00 pm and less 11:00 am. I dont't agree with that at all! The Inauguration was a huge historic event and she couldnt have looked more amazing! Did you see the detail on the coat? Gorgeous. And I can't forget to mention her heels. Jimmy Choos the 'Glacier' patent leather pumps in a striking shade of green! You go Michelle: (I have no idea how she was able to walk in those all day. Although, I think she took them off while watching the parade.) And the different, yet cool, green gloves were by J. Crew.
Barack looked quite dapper as well...
Malia and Sasha wore coats from the J. Crew children's collection 'Crewcuts', Malia in periwinkle blue, and Sasha in strawberry-pink, both accessorized with warm scarves. I was relieved to see that there was no matching of the children's colors or outfits to Michelle. They looked so cute wearing their fun colors.
But the best kept secret in Washington that night was Michelle's Inaugural Ball dress. No one knew what to expect, but when they both walked out on stage, did we not all go nuts? She looked stunning!!! And then Barack said: "First of all, how good looking is my wife?" And then they took their first dance with Beyonce singing "At Last." It was a perfect sight.
The white chiffon, one-shoulder gown covered in fluffy appliques and beading (that will now become part of fashion history) was designed by 26-year-old Jason Wu. It was surprising for its reserve given Michelle Obama's love of jewel tones and sleek silhouettes. Yet it was unconventional too, exposing her much-remarked-upon, well-toned arms. And Barack, looking dapper again of course...
I hope all you Americans enjoyed this beautiful day as we welcome our 44th president and milestone in U.S.A.'s and the worlds history. Only in America!
xoxo Emily Anne
Side Note: Rev. Lowery's Inauguration Benediction, after President Obama's speech, was one of my favorite moments of the entire day, especially when he said this:
"Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around -- (laughter) -- when yellow will be mellow -- (laughter) -- when the red man can get ahead, man -- (laughter) -- and when white will embrace what is right."
