I'm bAAAAaaaack

Hi loves!,

I am so sorry to have been away for so long...

WARNING: My spell check was not working! Excuse me.

To keep you updated on my oh-so-interesting life, I have been taking art classes every morning and afternoon for the past week and into this week. I have a Portfolio class and a Figure Drawing class. The art gallery show is this Friday so I'm almost done! :)

I have had fun and met so many artsy cool people and have been so inspired by the way these kids define their own sense of fashion. You see all types of styles from the hipsters, to the punks, hippies, urban outfitter's american apparrel and free people lovers, to people who just throw anything on but look instantly cool.

Taking the train everyday was a new experience too. You never know what to expect when you get on, and every day is different (plus I love people watching). Every once and a while I'll get stuck sitting next too the oober fashionitsa women with a marc by marc jacobs bag reading vouge, or the obnoxious man who cant seem to get out of the 80's blasting old rock music on their ipod. Oh and its a delight having to knock people in the knees with my portfolio case, thats always humilitaing!

Anyway....

Im getting a Shih Tzu! Thats a dog! Ha! Im so excited. It will probably be coming in August (well at least thats what the breeder said). Its a possibility of being all black. They are so cute though. Cant wait.

Oh AND!...

I got a great score on my ACT and wont have to take it again, woop woop!!

So yeah. All is good in the neighborhood as for now. I will catch up with yall as soon as I can.

You guys are beautiful.

-----peace,
em :p

Trend: The Maxi Dress

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3120/2462464701_097e87756f.jpghttp://whisty.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/nicole-richie-cheryl-cole-rihanna-maxi-dress-denim-jacket.jpghttp://www.welikefashion.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/maxidress.jpg

In stark contrast to last year's mini dress, this season's maxi is likely to prove to be womens new best friend. However, be careful that the maxi dress doesn't wear you! For the fashion-savvy woman, the secret is in the cut. Tall, willowy goddesses like Kate Moss and Paris Hilton can get away with any style, but mere mortals under 5’4" need to give their dress styles more thought.

How to Wear a Maxi Dress

Mini Women: Try these few tips to avoid being drowned by your Maxi and actually making you look shorter and larger:
  • Choose a style that is well cut
  • Avoid tent-like skirts
  • Make sure your dress is in proportion with your petite frame
  • Keep things fitted up top
  • Pair with chunky heels and a fitted waistcoat
  • Smaller pattered or floral prints are more flattering
  • Find a close fitting empire line. To hide tummies, find a dress that drapes material in front
  • A sleeker, stylish A-line or bias cut, is more complimentary for shorter women
  • For extra height accessorize with patent platforms, wedges or feminine toe-covered sling backs, long, chunky jewelery and this season's oversized shades and bags
UK online retailer Asos.com currently offers a wide range of different maxi dresses in various, and celebrity inspired styles.
Larger Women: Try these few tips to flatter your curves and avoid widening hips:
  • Big-busted women might find a halter-style or bandeau top preferable to thin spaghetti straps, as they support, are more flattering to the bust
  • Avoid elasticated tops
  • Look for V-necks which draws attention away from the bust and flatters a full figure
  • A draped maxi is particularly good for concealing a larger tummy
  • Loud prints and bold colors are kinder to larger frames. Avoid smaller patterned floral or paisley type prints
  • Accessorize the same way
