Spring is Somewhere Part Uno

So, errm, as I'm making this post, snow is flying down from the night sky and trapping me in this house. BUT, I know that underneath all that white powder a flower is waiting impatiently! Spring is coming people! I dont care if that stupid groundhog we listen to here says there is 6 more weeks of winter.

I'm preparing for a wardrobe shift, starting with some inspiration I stumbled upon on Urban Outfitters blog.

I'm thinking pops of color?, but also I want to collect more nudes, whites, and light and airy fabrics...hence this is only part one of more spring inspiration posts to come (cause that's how I work) And because I haven't been like crazy inspired recently. Hope that changes. Maybe this snow shit will help. I'll let you know. Toodles!

Its All In the Details

When looking at the Zac Posen spring collection I couldn't help but be more amused by the accessories than the clothes themselves. And maybe that's what Mr. Posen wants us to do his collectioin, however, I felt that in some looks he may have over accessorized. The chunky coin earrings in this collection no doubt would be a conversation starter, but I know few women who would actually wear these through an entire work day or a night out without having their ears weighing them down.

Also, the bangles I would love to see separate. When you stack four or five cunky bangles at once sometimes I think you can loose the beauty in the bangles individually and instead are looking at the massive stack on the models tiny wrist.

But I will say is that I love the details and colors used in the dresses,
the white snakeskin and the freshness of the bags, and the colors and shapes of the shoes.

I guess I'm a person who looks at the functionality a little bit more than the design. I have always loved Zac Posen and his eye for fashion, but I think its important to have an opinion about what designers put on the runway because it allows for a different perspective rather than loving everything the designer does just because it has their name on it. I am no person to have such a high opinion on such talented and excelled designers, but these are just my thoughts on looking at the details of this collection. After all, its all in the details.

P.S. I apologize for the slow posting. But thankfully, I have spring break approaching and I'm prepared to do some massive DIYing and have a couple posting ideas lined up. Also, sorry for the poor quality of some of my outfit pictures, I need to upgrade to a new camera, but for right now I'm fine. I should be grateful to have the things that I do and sometimes I take them for granted I think.

my winter to spring transition outfit

(romper and sunglasses, Topshop; jacket, Urban Outfitters; boots, Doc Martens; bag, Eruca; heart clips, Cherry Red Boutique; socks, Sockwizard; bunny ring, Kabiri, block ring, Red Plastic Factory)

...or at least what i would put together. The only problem is that I'm lacking a couple of these pieces in my wardrobe. But I'd rather make my own clothes than buy them. Isn't it just so much more satisfying!? Rompers are really popular right now, and I find myself craving for one. I think I might go to the fabric store soon and make one. I cant wait for Spring!

Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post. I thought about it and I think I'm pretty solid for now as to the direction I'm going with Like Lilly. Was it all just a me freaking out? Could have been. But knowing me, I'm sure there are more of those moments to come.

Yours Truly ;)

SPRING is coming!

(dress Target; belt unknown; gladiators Target; cardigan Old Navy; ankle boots Payless ShoeSource; cowboy boots Target; nail polish Sally Hansen in Back Off)

hello sun.
sans makeup.
I love Spring, I can't wait for the warm air to start blowing in and I can wear my floral dresses and cowboy boots without tights. Floral dresses are some of my favorite items of clothing to buy. I hope you all like this three-tiered one I got from Tarshey.

Today was one of the best days I had in a really long time. It was just full of love and laughter and joy. I received good marks in my classes, and I'm even off for the rest of the week! Its fabulousness. Oh and I found out today that one of my drawings is going to be put in an Art Exhibition at a local University! This feels great because last night I was getting so down and felt like my art was becoming useless and now I feel 100% better and am totally reading to pick up my paintbrush/pencil/charcoal again!

AND! I'm getting my braces off April 28th! I'm going to throw a party I think. I mean I've had these train tracks in my mouth for 5 years! Its time for the train to leave the station.

My love to all of you!

The Dead of Winter, And I'm Loving It

Those of you that have read some of my older posts know how much I love winter. I wont rant about it like I did in my winter coats post, but I just wanted you to know that its love : )

I love (using the word love just one more time) using this messenger bag in the winter because of the knit material. It just makes me want to make a sweater out of it or something. Some of you asked to see this bag when I talked about it in one of my posts. I bought it hand made by Mexicans at a flea market for $10 last summer before I went to school and its holding up very well! I thought the ribbon strap would have snapped by now from holding my massive texts books, but it hasn't. Maybe its because its sewn all the way around the bag, like on the bottom and up the sides. It's a trooper, that's for sure! One of the main things that makes it interesting is that it has two sides. The front (well, the side I like to use as the front, is a geometrical pattern) and the other side is, I'm guessing, is 3 men with large sombreros.

The beauty of a snowy night (im my own edgar allen poe)....
Although these pictures were taken last Wednesday and there is not a lot of snow on the ground now, we are supposed to get more later this week. I'm hoping for a snow day from school! There is nothing more beautiful to me then the way the snow falls and outlines the most thinnest of branches. And with living in the woods and all, its a beautiful sight. This is a picture of my front yard. Beyond the trees is a steep cliff where the mountain drops off.
Yeah it sounds as dangerous as it is!
It would not be a good idea to try and hike down that...Another picture of my front yard...

This is the gate leading into my backyard.
The tan box is a flower box and on the left of that is a wreath...

More trees. I love them. Hug. (kidding)
That's my computer there, where all the magic happens...hehe.
I know you all were so interested to see.
The gorgeous black and white framed photo is "Driftwood" by
Ansel Adams, he's one of my favorite photographers.
All of his photographs are in black and white and they are beautiful!
Please check them out if you have a moment!!

So thats a little bit of me! I hope some of you like winter as much as I. My whole family hates winter so I'm kinda on my own there. I really hope I get off from school because of the snow! I'll wear my pajamas inside out. I think that's how that goes. Oh....wait what is this?...Moms getting the chicken out out the freezer?! She always makes chicken soup on snow days. This is good.

*I've got me fingers crossed!*
xoxo
