So I've had this blog for two years now!

I cannot even fathom that.....

Yes I can.

Anyways, its really become my baby in a way. I was so young when I created my first post and looking back on who I was then reminds me of who I am today.

So for tonights post I want to vow that I will continue blogging.

Somehow and some way.

I started art school after high school and ever since then I've been non-stop creating art and I haven't even had time to breathe. BUT I really love this blog.....AND I have almost 100 followers...thank you so much by the way! I won't let you guys down.

Tonight theres a 100% chance of rain...and a 30% chance of it actually happening!

Im currently sitting on the couch watching my family being my family: eating dinner, joking, laughing, and proving that when it comes to talking, they only have one volume level....HIGH.

Were true italians in this household.

But now....things are quite. Things move that fast paced in this house. Its just me and my brother now. The rest of the family is off to pick my puppy up (shown above) from the vet. She was spayed today, the poor thing. I hope shell be alright.

And now Im alone...my brother went off somewhere into another part of the house, and Im still sitting on the couch, hearing the weather channel in the background.

I get it 100% chance of rain!

I wish I could be 100% sure of something, or anything....but thats for another time and another rant!

--i got my hair cut!! super super short but i love it. it was such a good decision.

-- the party was actually sunday...one of the besttttt days ive had in a while. in the morning i had my graduation brunch with my family and best friend Marie ( a lot of fun) i wore an amazing dress my sister bought me, showed off my artwork, and my new hair (my family loved it!), then went home, proceeded to eat a ton of cake and my mom went out and bought even more junk food (i know, so bad) and then i bought some songs using my itunes giftcard.

-- this week has been great. my days pretty much consist of relaxing, drawing, and starting up my new art website. nothing to special, but im just glad to be done school! i cannot wait for art school. so excited.

So, errm, as I'm making this post, snow is flying down from the night sky and trapping me in this house. BUT, I know that underneath all that white powder a flower is waiting impatiently! Spring is coming people! I dont care if that stupid groundhog we listen to here says there is 6 more weeks of winter.

I'm preparing for a wardrobe shift, starting with some inspiration I stumbled upon on Urban Outfitters blog.

I'm thinking pops of color?, but also I want to collect more nudes, whites, and light and airy fabrics...hence this is only part one of more spring inspiration posts to come (cause that's how I work) And because I haven't been like crazy inspired recently. This is Bailey! My puppy! Shes a brindle Shih Tzu and shes coming home on Halloween! Shes like about 5 weeks old. We decided to name her Bailey because shes black but has a hint of brown in her just like the Bailey's drink. Ha. Anyway shes totally to die for. I can't wait!

P.S. My favorite part of this video is when you can hear the breeder lady say "Shes the feistiest of the bunch!" A girl after my own heart.

I totally wanted to use pyramid studs but I think they came out good. I bought this western inspired denim blouse from a thrift store nearby that had these studs on it in a crazy cowboy embellishment manner. So I took them off and decided to use them on my converse. Ill probably bleach the denim blouse later this week.

The Need to Be Inspired

As you all know, blogging is fun, but sometimes can be work because you have to keep up with it so much. Lately I haven't had the drive to keep posting, which is so sad! I love blogging but I think what I really need is some inspiration. I miss you all and I am slowly but surely getting back into the blogosphere!

I really miss reading all your posts and the feeling of being a part of your lives you share on your blogs. You guys have become like friends away from home for me! I love you guys.

So I will be back, I promise :)

As for now, I love this months Teen Vogue featuring Taylor Momsen on the cover, shes so great! I can say I'm pretty inspired by her style. Except the rosary around the neck (first pic)...that's kinda like a no no (its a bit sac religious) and shes a catholic too i think. Ehh, its all up for interpretation i guess.

Hi loves!,

I am so sorry to have been away for so long...

WARNING: My spell check was not working! Excuse me.

To keep you updated on my oh-so-interesting life, I have been taking art classes every morning and afternoon for the past week and into this week. I have a Portfolio class and a Figure Drawing class. The art gallery show is this Friday so I'm almost done! :)

I have had fun and met so many artsy cool people and have been so inspired by the way these kids define their own sense of fashion. You see all types of styles from the hipsters, to the punks, hippies, urban outfitter's american apparrel and free people lovers, to people who just throw anything on but look instantly cool.

Taking the train everyday was a new experience too. You never know what to expect when you get on, and every day is different (plus I love people watching). Every once and a while I'll get stuck sitting next too the oober fashionitsa women with a marc by marc jacobs bag reading vouge, or the obnoxious man who cant seem to get out of the 80's blasting old rock music on their ipod. Oh and its a delight having to knock people in the knees with my portfolio case, thats always humilitaing!

Anyway....

Im getting a Shih Tzu! Thats a dog! Ha! Im so excited. It will probably be coming in August (well at least thats what the breeder said). Its a possibility of being all black. They are so cute though. Cant wait.

Oh AND!...

I got a great score on my ACT and wont have to take it again, woop woop!!

So yeah. All is good in the neighborhood as for now. I will catch up with yall as soon as I can.

Before I did this post I was not really a fan of the maxi dress, I saw it as cousin to the potato sack and thought it was unflattering on any women. But, as I researched I learned that worn the right way, a maxi dress can actually look cute and easy breezy for summer. It can be something to just throw on before going out shopping or something.

I am still not completely sure if I will make a purchase towards a maxi dress this summer, but if you are I hope these few tips helped :)

Trend: Laddered stockings / Ripped tights

We are seeing ripped tights everywhere! I was sporting this trend when I was 10 years old and I accidentally ripped my stocking while both trying to get on the school bus and carrying my artwork and books. A rip in my tights in grade school was like the world was coming to an end. I would run to my bathroom cabinet and find clear nail polish to coat the run and stop to from tearing even more.

And now look where we are, in the year of 2009 where people drive BMW'S like they are Fords and you can access the internet and call people all on a computer or a phone that is the size of your thumb, and people are deciding to rip there tights....on purpose! I would like to ask what has the fashion world come too, but then I find myself actually becoming a fan of this trend.

To an extent...

I think that ripping your tights can either look chic or just plain ol' cheap. I think that if your are going for that grungy look, do not attack your tights. One or too thin runs all the way down the tight should do the trick. I think that multiple rips and holes and tears tend to look sloppy. And that thing where people cut holes in their tights using scissors, so that their tights end up looking like swiss cheese...now that's just stupid.

I am sorry to say that I am a hypocrite though. I have broken my own rule (well before I made up my own rule) and have worn tights that I shredded to bits to make then look like the ultimate grunge tights. Remember these baby's? Yeah, I'm totally a hypocrite. But now that I have made up this rule for myself, I will so never do that again.

As for laddered stockings, they're tres tres chic. Almost always. That's all I gotta say about that trend.

Trend: South of the Border Summer

My sister came home from the flea market today and showed me the items that she bought. Among the leather belt, silver ring, and peace sign bracelet was a tribal-looking necklace with wooden beads and white stones. This got me thinking and I realize that now, more than ever, I am seeing tribal inspired accessories everywhere. On jewelry handbags, and even on peoples feet.

I'm not sure where this south of the border wave came from, but I'm more than willing to grab my surfboard (tribal-inspired of course) and join these designers. In my opinion, quite a few people are afraid of color, and this trend inspires people to be more daring with there accessories and broaden the hues of their wardrobes.

Take Teen Vouges recent fashion spreads for example. Almost more than three of their spreads that have been seen in Teen Vouge relating to this summer have had some kind of tribal-feel to the oufits and even the design of the spread. Here are a few pictures from one of their spreads. Notice the crazy array of colors and patterns. I dont think the fashion experts at Teen Vouge were concerned about the reality of people actually wearing these exact outfits than the point they were trying to make in these pictures. I really don't need any of this, its purely a case of want. I have a great love for Free People clothing. Free People, as probably all of you know, is owned by the same people that own Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie, but is by far my favorite out of the three.

Unfortunately, clothes like these cost and arm and a leg. But, the amount of detail in their clothing definitely justifies the price tag. I have to say in my lifetime of shopping, I have only bought a fall coat that is made by free people. And it was bought at the local T.J. Maxx. Being jobless currently, I in no way can afford these clothes and feel guilty if I ask my parents to buy something for me.

Instead of breaking the bank for these clothes, I look to Free People as inspiration for my own wardrobe. I've bleached, braided and cut old clothes apart to grasp the essence of F.P's airy and earthy vibe. I have always had a hippie-feel to my clothing. And, I think F.P. does an excellent job of substituting tye-dye and peace sign necklaces for more mature and beautiful pieces of clothing.

I really hope Free People continues creating clothing for a long time. It creates style on any girl who wears this type of clothing. Now to think of it, I wish they made a guys collection. I would definitley make my brother and guy friends wear them instead of their American Eagle tee shirts. Im not against preppy, its just not a liking of mine. But thats for another day and another post.

Hi Blogosphere!

These are some pictures from a last weekend thrift shopping trip downtown I did with a friend.
I'm in love with my new high-waisted velvet floral skirt (Can you tell. I totally became a camera whore with it on! By the way...only $6.00!) AND I also love knit cropped sweater I also got, but not as much as a bargain as the skirt, but still $14.00. It was a great day :)

I miss u all!! I am sorry for the rather boring and slow posts lately; I have finals coming up next week, so as usual, school has got me all tied up. Its like a rodeo really: school is the cowboy and I'm the thing being lassoed. I have no choice but to be antisocial this weekend and hit the books. Although, I think that in reality, the only hitting of the books I'll do is my head hitting the book and I pass out (Wow, im really crakin the jokes tonight). Well, I'm off to do homework, but I will find every ounce of time I can to check up on all your blogs and see what you're up to! I'm in the mood to be inspired!

Hey everyone! My weekend is going great...

Friday I went into town with my friend for a nice day (long day!) of shopping.
Saturday my sister came home after being away for 4 months in Barcelona.

I woke up at about 11 today after crashing on my bed as soon as I got home from the party. I wish I took pictures of the party, but I stupidly forgot my camera.

The night was...interesting. It was fun though, there was thing inflatable Twister on the lawn out back and there was a band that was really good. And, of course, no party is complete without Rock Band. I rocked the drums.

- My Paris Blues skinny jeans. They go with everything and make my legs look longer and leaner. Also, I think Paris Blues are like the most comfortable jeans ever.

- I would donate some of it to help fight hunger and also to some environment organization to help the planet. I would also give some of it to my mom. She's the most amazing person and works so hard, she could get her little dream house by the water that she always talks about.

- I love Betsy Johnson, shes so fearless when it comes to what she's wearing. Her style is a true definition of color. She can have both lime green zebra and hot pink leopard on and be working it at the same time, shes so fierce and fabulous. I also love my best friends' styles, they all are individual and totally work with their personalities.

Describe your personal style?
- Wow. Umm its colorful, hippie, indie, grunge, 40's, 60's, and 80's. Like a collection of all of that. I change my style with how often I change my moods. I change into about 5 or 6 different outfits a day.

- Watch Ugly Betty and sing terribly to myself

What would you love to see come back in fashion?
- Fanny packs. They are very functional and no one will want to rob you cause its too awkward.

In love.
Some may say their outfits are mismatched, but I think its more like reaching a level of perfection. The colors and the patters of these Harajuku street walkers are put together so harmoniously; at least in my eye. I love love love color. I love to put together crazy colors and patterns and have fun putting together outfits like this...but when it comes to actually wearing what I put together out in public, I tend to take a few steps back and not put my full vision of a look out there. I just wish it looked normal to wear something like this in public and not care about what people think...

But when you live in a suburbia like I do, its rare that someone looks this awesome and when they do, people like to turn their heads, and not in a good way. Most of you probably understand what I'm saying.

I just don't like the feeling of keeping some of my outfits confined within my bedroom walls because of being too afraid of, well, being different I guess you can say. And you're probably thinking that all I need is a bit of confidence and this can all be solved. And you're probably right. Who's to say what I can and can't wear!...

If only it was that easy.

I kept seeing these unraveled Hanes tees from many bloggers that I loved and wanted to make one for my self! ha.

Other DIYS: I am currently recreating this Urban Outfitters Jersey necklace from an old black tee. Here's how its going...

And remember this skirt? Well I'm going to try to make a dress out of it by using the skirt as the bottom of the dress and then I have these old jeans legs left over from when I made shorts that I'm gonna make a corset out of and then attach that to a tee. It might take me a while but I'm pretty excited for it.

I also want to make a jacket similar to an Urban Outfitters Renewal jacket from my uncles Levi's brown button down plaid shirt and a red hoodie my brother let me steal from him.

I have a lot of work ahead of me!

Hidden under stacks of Urban Outfitters, Free People, and Gypsy Rose catalogs was this really old 70's crafts book that my mom gave me a bit ago that I had forgotten about. I was ammusd by this bead ring and decided to give it an attempt. I do have to say though its a tad big which keeps me from wearing it all the time, but overall I do like the way it came out. Although, I still think the 70's girl's is much better!

I've gotta run and help my mom make this deep dish pasta thing for Easter tomorrow. We plan on going over to my Italian grandmother's house where my extended family will be (some of which are from Brooklyn). Remind me to bring some ear muffs, it gets crazy in her little house packed with Italians that just love to talk over one another. Wish me luck!

My favorite elements incorporated in these pictures are the jean studded vest and knit skirt, the rainbow overalls, leather pants and the round readers. The use of sunlight in these pictures give them such a natural fresh feel. I also really love their hair! Haha.

Its All In the Details

When looking at the Zac Posen spring collection I couldn't help but be more amused by the accessories than the clothes themselves. And maybe that's what Mr. Posen wants us to do his collectioin, however, I felt that in some looks he may have over accessorized. The chunky coin earrings in this collection no doubt would be a conversation starter, but I know few women who would actually wear these through an entire work day or a night out without having their ears weighing them down.

Also, the bangles I would love to see separate. When you stack four or five cunky bangles at once sometimes I think you can loose the beauty in the bangles individually and instead are looking at the massive stack on the models tiny wrist.

But I will say is that I love the details and colors used in the dresses,
the white snakeskin and the freshness of the bags, and the colors and shapes of the shoes.

I guess I'm a person who looks at the functionality a little bit more than the design. I have always loved Zac Posen and his eye for fashion, but I think its important to have an opinion about what designers put on the runway because it allows for a different perspective rather than loving everything the designer does just because it has their name on it. I am no person to have such a high opinion on such talented and excelled designers, but these are just my thoughts on looking at the details of this collection. After all, its all in the details.

P.S. I apologize for the slow posting. But thankfully, I have spring break approaching and I'm prepared to do some massive DIYing and have a couple posting ideas lined up. Also, sorry for the poor quality of some of my outfit pictures, I need to upgrade to a new camera, but for right now I'm fine. I should be grateful to have the things that I do and sometimes I take them for granted I think.

I love Spring, I can't wait for the warm air to start blowing in and I can wear my floral dresses and cowboy boots without tights. Floral dresses are some of my favorite items of clothing to buy. I hope you all like this three-tiered one I got from Tarshey.

Today was one of the best days I had in a really long time. It was just full of love and laughter and joy. I received good marks in my classes, and I'm even off for the rest of the week! Its fabulousness. Oh and I found out today that one of my drawings is going to be put in an Art Exhibition at a local University! This feels great because last night I was getting so down and felt like my art was becoming useless and now I feel 100% better and am totally reading to pick up my paintbrush/pencil/charcoal again!

AND! I'm getting my braces off April 28th! I'm going to throw a party I think. I mean I've had these train tracks in my mouth for 5 years! Its time for the train to leave the station.

My mom bought hand painted candles at a Renaissance Fair. They really original and cool.

Some of my collection of books I have on my shelf. Most of them are Laurie Halse Anderson and Jerry Spinelli, both authors write the most intriguing books. The small white one is Manhunt by Janet Evanovich, which is a quirky love story that I adore.

Classics. We have our Gone With the Wind which is timeless, The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights.

Where I store my ever so colorful clothes and endless amounts of patterns. Also my shoes, which are at the bottom. As you can see, I really don't need that many pairs.

My desk where I throw my Nylon, Teen Vogue, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and more magazines and catalogs, my paints, and brochures from some of the best art schools in the U.S.

Also where I keep my laptop, and enjoy watching the sun peer through the window shades. A great place to let my mind wander.

My whole family is very environmentally conscious. My mom is also an environmental teacher.

My family also loves to cook. We try to stay true to our Sicilian heritage. My mom is the most amazing cook I will probably ever know.

Lastly, I don't know what I would do without my spiced teas. They instantly make me feel 100% more heather and happier. Nothing is better than a warm blanket and a really good hot cup of tea. I prefer Bengal Spice, or India Spice for when I need a boost of caffeine.
